Lady Mustangs Now 4-0

March 5, 2013–

The Lady Mustangs continue to roll with dominating wins in the middle school division.  This past Saturday they polished off National City Middle with a convincing 43-11 victory. Sports Page!

4-6 Grade Lady Mustangs                          Finish the Season on High Note!

March 6, 2013–

The Lady Mustangs ended their regular basketball season with a win against Heritage 14 – 12, but failed to make the play-offs.  Nevertheless, the team improved every week and were able to defeat a pretty good team to finish strong.  Next year’s team has a lot to look forward to with Mia Sustaita, Alexandra Lozano, Sofia Elizalde, Angela “Scooby” Scott, Annabel Ortega, and Daelene Delgado returning.  Great job young ladies… we are proud of you!!!

Mustangs Fall to Wolf Creek 

The Mustangs Flag Football team finished the season after a heart breaking, 20-19  loss in overtime to Wolf Creek.  Still, it was a great season for MCS– and it looks like our flag football program is back to stay!

Lady Mustangs Finish Strong

Our Lady Mustangs finished the 2012 softball season on a high note, by advancing all the way to the semi-finals.  With strong fan support and outstanding hitting, the girls defeated National City Middle School in the quarterfinals, then dropped a tough game to Eastlake in the semi’s.  All in all, a great season for our Lady Mustangs!!!

 MCLA Fight for 2nd in Championship Game 

The Mustangs finished their flag football season falling to Chula Vista Middle School 8-6 in the championship game. In what was to be a long day of football, MCLA defeated National City Middle 18-6 in their opening test at 9:00. They then knocked off Castle Park Middle School 22-8 in the semi-final game at noon.  The championship game came down to strong defense and a two point conversion that made the difference in the game.

In spite of the disappointing final score, the Mustangs had a great season with 5 wins and a second place finish among 16 teams.  With great leadership from eight grade captains Paul Escobar and Josh Medina, we will have a strong core of returning players fro next year, while many of our 8th graders will make their mark at the high school level.  Congratulations on a great season!

MUSTANGS KICKBALL ENDS WITH WIN

The Mustangs finished their kickball season on a high note, with a 9-8 victory over Arroyo Vista.  ”That was a nail-biter,” said Coach Cisneros.  ”Our kids played their best game of the season against a tough team.”

The Mustangs have left their mark in the league and after the first-ever season for MCS-Kickball,  the message for all other teams is an ominous one:  ”We’ll be back!!!”

Mueller Charter School was one of 16 schools recognized from across the United States for Excellence in Urban School Transformation.  MCS was one of only four K-8 schools recognized by the National Center for Urban School Transformation at San Diego State University.

At Mueller Charter School, we have consistently met all growth goals for the Academic Performance Index (API) as well as the goals for Annual Yearly Progress (AYP).  This past year we moved to 841!!!  (We were once at 520!!!)

Some of the highlights:

• 5th graders collectively scored the highest they ever have in language arts, math and science!

• 6 students scored a perfect 600 in math!

• 92% of our 4th graders and 99% of our 7th graders were proficient in writing.

• 84% of our 8th graders were proficient in language arts and 81% were proficient in science!!!

Of course there were some areas that need attention, too.
