 Mom & Son Welcome parents to Mueller Charter School! Below you will find important information about our school.
"10k Parent Volunteer Program"This year we are asking every parent to VOLUNTEER at least 10 hours per child at Mueller Charter School. 10 hours per child, times 1000 students, would result in some 10,000 (10K) volunteer hours for the 2010-11 school year!Why ask parents to volunteer? Because we know that the more engaged parents are at their child’s school, the higher the level of academic achievement. We also know how busy our parents are so we have identified lots of different ways that you can get credit for volunteering. They include: • Participating in parent conferences and home visits• Attending school events• Attending our Monday/Friday awards ceremonies• Assisting at special events like the Halloween Carnival, the Olympic Festival• Supervising traffic in the morning or afternoon• Playground supervision• Working in your child’s classroom• Assisting your child’s teacher with a project you can do from home• Going on a field trip• Reading with kids• Coaching a school team• Participating in parent training classesWe have created a system to keep track of all volunteer hours. Simply check in at the front office with Eva Lopez and she can assign your child’s classroom or our highest need area. Any family member can contribute to a child’s ten hours. However, please be aware that—according to district board policy-- anyone working directly with our students more than two times per week on a regular basis will require fingerprints for clearance. Our Parent Council has strongly urged us to implement the “10K Volunteer Program”. The 10-hour minimum is a recommended guideline. It is not mandatory. But we believe that our program is flexible enough-- and important enough-- that we will easily reach the goal of 10 volunteer hours per child!
